WILDFIRE DISASTER RELIEF FUNDS

DONATIONS FOR ANIMALS

LAST UPDATED August 13, 2021:  British Columbia, Canada is currently experiencing extremely high temperatures and as in a number of recent summers, wildfires are creating challenges for many horse and other livestock owners.

The following groups have a proven track record of providing expert support for everything from horses, to goats, chickens, cows, sheep, ducks, emus, dogs, cats and so many more.

They are able to arrange hauling of horses and other animals from within wildfire evacuation zones, and then provide temporary foster care for the same.

CDART and ALERT are run completely by dedicated volunteers and funded by donations.

HORSE COUNCIL BC

(BC ANIMAL DISASTER RELIEF FUND)

One of our founders first became aware of Horse Council BC’s remarkable efforts in the summer of 2017, when devastating wildfires swept across the province.

At that time, HCBC recognized that the generous volunteers hauling horses and other livestock out of fire zones were starting to feel the financial strain of keeping their trucks and trailers on the road.

Acting quickly, HCBC raised and directed funds to where they were needed most — helping fill fuel tanks so rescuers could continue their lifesaving work.

They also sourced and distributed high-quality hay and feed for displaced animals, and ensured that those temporarily fostered in emergency centres were safely returned home when the danger had passed.

Do you have goosebumps?  You should – what HCBC did was beyond awe inspiring.

Their fast, compassionate, and organized response left a lasting impression on us — and became one of the ‘mane’ inspirations behind the creation of Horse Rescue Fund.

While HCBC’s fire support fundraising is seasonal and not offered every year, their dedication set an incredible example of what community-driven help can achieve.

As a nationally registered charitable foundation, Horse Rescue Fund is honoured to follow in their footsteps — taking that same spirit of compassion and expanding it across Canada.

Because of our charitable status, we’re able to offer tax-deductible receipts for donations while ensuring help reaches horses and their caregivers wherever the need arises.

We’re deeply grateful to Horse Council BC for showing what’s possible when good people come together to help horses in crisis.
