RELINQUISHED BY STEPHANIE REDLICK
Ontario, Canada – Before Ontario’s Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) seized 16 horses from Stephanie Redlick and later charged her with multiple counts of neglect, Redlick had already relinquished four other horses to a local family.
According to equine specialists, those horses were found in deplorable condition, highlighting a deeply troubling pattern of mistreatment long before official intervention.
We are currently helping fundraise to offset the cost of 2 surgeries needed by one those horses.
THE BACK STORY
Again, 16 horses were seized by Animal Welfare Services and a variety of neglect charges (and around the same time unrelated fraud and theft – criminal charges) were filed against Stephanie Redlick.
Redlick then – out of the blue — tried to rebrand herself as a rescue and equine therapist under the new to her name of Above the Stars Equine Rescue – and as local reporters discovered she even falsely claimed to be a registered charity.
Before the seizure of 16 horses by Animal Welfare Services and neglect charges, four other horses were quietly surrendered by Redlick to a compassionate local family.
Tragically, despite intensive and expensive specialized veterinary care, one of those four horses, Seattle Sunrise – featured above – had to be euthanized—again despite every effort, and significant expense, to save him.
Thanks to YOUR generousity, Horse Rescue Fund helped with a grant to offset the $960 body removal fee. In addition to offsetting some of Seattle Sunrise’s veterinary care.
ONE OF THE 4 RELINQUISHED…
Xena, a gentle 2-year-old Percheron cross, urgently needed a specialist dental extraction, which ended up being over $3,000 – not including pre-surgery and post surgery care that continues into November 2025.
Although we were not able to raise the whole $3,000 – we would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all who helped HRF offset the surgery.
UPDATE November 2025: The veterinarians caring for Xena continue to check on her progress after dental surgery and she is healing well.
In addition the vet team are keeping a close watch on a hernia that Xena has. For the time being it’s been decided that she should not be subject to another surgery – at least not just yet.
The hernia has not ruptured – and again she is being monitored closely.
YOUR help is needed to give Xena a healthy, pain-free life.
